The I-90 Traveler's page is a combined effort of the Atmospheric Sciences Department at the University of Washington and the Washington State Department of Transportation. The goal of this page to provide the most current information to Interstate 90 travelers between Seattle and Ellensburg. Current weather and road conditions, as well as forecast conditions are displayed along this route for a twenty-four hour period. The following sections provide a brief explanation of the different types of information available.

Camera Images
|

The camera images are provided by the Washington State Department of Transportation. These images are updated at different intervals so it is important to note the time stamp at the bottom of the picture. To get a large image of a specific camera, click on the small image you want. The red border around the small image marks the camera currently displayed in the large right hand window.

When the page is opened, the information in the bottom window reflects the conditions as they were at the time shown next to to the: |

Current Conditions are determined in the following way:
- Air/road surface temperature from weather stations located where the air temperature is displayed
- Cloud cover - from weather stations and 4km infrared satellite images
- Precipitation - from the NEXRAD radar on Camano Island
- Cloud cover - divided into Clear, Partly Cloudy and Cloudy
- Precipitation - displayed as either rain or snow
The information is updated once per hour
NOTE these conditions are for specific point locations. Consequently the actual conditions between these points may vary.

Regional NWS Forecasts

Forecasts are produced by the National Weather Service offices located in Seattle and Pendelton. To view forecasts, click the area of interest on the I-90 cross section. These forecasts generally cover an extended period. The text forecast is displayed in this window.

NOTE On systems with slower modems, these images may take some time to load. While they are loading an "Image Loading" graphic is displayed.
The Forecast Conditions are available for a 24 hour period.
They are displayed in 6-hour increments at the pre-set hours of 4pm, 10pm, 4am and 10am PST.
The images can be moved forward and backward with the control buttons.
- FWD allows you to advance through the forecast periods one at a time
- REV allows you to move backwards through the forecast periods stopping at the first forecast.
To view forecast for a specific time period, click arrow in "Select Forecast Hour" option box and select the hour.
